I had lunch at this restaurant yesterday and was really disappointed in the food and service.

I really like the building and dining room, with the location looking out over Leidesplein and Marnixstraat, so decided to try the lunch there. At first I thought it would be okay, nice table, comfortable armchairs and fast drinks service. However the menu was very limited and this should have rang alarm bells. I ordered Chicken Caesar salad and my dining companion ordered the Chicken Sate. After a very long wait the food finally arrived, and really wasn't worth the wait. The salad was lacking any dressing and I had to ask for more. In addition the lettuce leave were all dark yellow and small - it felt like it was thrown together by a student in the kitchen with the last of the ingredients. More like a chicken and bacon salad, not very appetising. My partner had chicken sate but this was also disappointing - bad quality chicken, coleslaw, and heaps and heaps of gloopy sate sauce. He is Dutch and was very disappointed by this.

In the end we left half of our glasses of wine behind and paid the bill and left to go elsewhere for our coffee. We won't be returning - such a shame for a lovely building and great location.
